Pilgrim Icon Program

OVERVIEW

Through the Pilgrim Icon Program, councils organize a Sacred Heart Holy Hour featuring an icon depicting the most famous image of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, painted in 1767 by Pompeo Batoni and now venerated in the Church of the Gesù in Rome. The reproduction bears the blessing of Pope Francis, through the Papal Almoner, and is one of more than 300 icons traveling across the world, from council to council, for veneration and use in prayer services.

The Sacred Heart Holy Hour includes readings from Sacred Scripture and reflections from Pope Francis on the Sacred Heart, as well as the Divine Mercy Chaplet, prayers to the Sacred Heart and time for silent prayer. Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament may also be included. Following the holy hour, families are encouraged to enthrone the Sacred Heart in their homes by placing an image of the Sacred Heart in a place of honor and conducting an enthronement ceremony.

Since the first traveling pilgrim icon of Our Lady of Guadalupe in 1979, more than 191,000 council and parish prayer services have been held, with some 23 million participants.

MSgt Loggins,           The Knights of Columbus will be holding the coat distribution on Nov 22nd at the Base Chapel Annex.  I will be showing up prior to 0800 and other Knights will be joining me at 0800.  We would like for the 1st Sgts to show at 0930 and have members getting coats to show up starting at 1000.  We will do the distribution until 1400 and then pass on all coats not picked up to the 1st Sgt or representative for that unit at that time to get delivered.              Knights Council 16127 would like to thank the 1st Sgts for their continued support in facilitating this distribution.   If there are any questions please reach out to me and I will keep you informed of any changes that may come up. Los Caballeros de Colón es una sociedad de beneficio fraternal para hombres católicos que se formó para brindar ayuda financiera a los miembros y sus familias. La ayuda mutua y la asistencia se ofrecen a los miembros enfermos, discapacitados y necesitados y sus familias. Se promueve el compañerismo social e intelectual entre los miembros y sus familias a través de obras educativas, caritativas, religiosas, de bienestar social, de socorro de guerra y de socorro público. Imagina ser parte de una organización que llena tu corazón y tu mente con la alegría de dar a los demás y el sentimiento que conlleva marcar la diferencia.
