XXWebinar: KofC Asset Advisors - What is Catholic Investing?
09-28-2021   6:00 pm - 7:00 pm

As you may have heard, the Knights of Columbus is now more than just insurance. The Knights of Columbus has an established track record of growth and success with our insurance, annuity, and church loan business. Now, through the Knights of Columbus Asset Advisors, that same team that manages the Order’s $25 billion of assets can offer our membership that same strategic approach. Come learn about this new side of the Knights of Columbus from Tony Minopoli the KOCAA President and Chief Investment Officer next Tuesday at 6pm Utah time. This will give you some insight into what the Order can do for you here in Utah and can also shed some light on our suite of faith-based investment solutions offered by Knights of Columbus Asset Advisors.
Topic:What is Catholic Investing from Chief Investment Officer - Tony Minopoli
Faith Based Investing is focused on developing and managing portfolio strategies that are compliant with the teachings of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops. We align ourselves directly with the pronouncements of the Bishops and do not ever try to establish what should be considered for a Catholic portfolio. We believe that the depth and breadth of products that we offer provides an opportunity for a wide array of portfolios to meet nearly any investment objective or risk tolerance.
At the core of our strategy is our screening methodology. We employ Institutional Shareholder Services and a moral theologian to inform us on how best to comply with Catholic investment principles. We then utilize our various strategies within various asset classes to build portfolios from the universe of companies that do not violate our ethical screens. We also apply Environmental, Social and Governance screens to understand how our investment decisions hold up relative to more contemporary screens used by faith based and non-faith based portfolios alike. Our experience informs us that applying Catholic screens does not preclude you from generating competitive performance over longer periods of time. There are certainly periods where Catholic screens benefit or hurt performance, but we think the ethical screens are not an impediment to performing well over cycles longer than perhaps three years.

Good morning brothers
Short notice but exciting news. Our Carmelite Sisters are going to be having a conference on St. Therese of Lisieux and for the very first time it will be open to the public, no charge. Thursday Sept 30 and Friday Oct 1 at 10:00 am and 5:30 pm each day. There will be a concluding mass on Friday at 6:30 pm. These sessions will be 45 minutes each and will be presented by Carmelite Father Thomas Reeves, who is currently the prior at Mount St. Joseph Carmelite Monastery in San Jose, Calif.
St. Therese said when she died and went to heaven that she would spend her heaven doing good on earth. Her teaching is so simple for all to practice and yet is so profound. “Come to St. Therese; she won’t disappoint you,” Mother Therese said. “She will lead you straight to Jesus, no matter what your stage in life is.”
What a blessing and what an amazing opportunity to join the nuns of the Carmel of the Immaculate Heart of Mary to learn about St. Therese of Lisieux and sharing God’s love together. We all need help and prayers in our lives and the lives of those we love, so let’s take advantage of this opportunity to get to know more about this remarkable Saint and with a morning and evening session, most should be able to attend at least once.
This will also be a chance to pick up some Carmelite jam or candy and help support out Sister of Carmel.
God bless and protect you and your families. Hope to see you there.
George Jockisch
Carmelite Chairman

All Abby Johnson ever wanted to do was help women. Her passion surrounding a woman’s right to choose even led her to become a spokesperson for Planned Parenthood, fighting to enact legislation for the cause she so deeply believed in.
It was this conviction that both led Abby to a career with Planned Parenthood, and caused her to flee the organization to become an outspoken advocate for the pro-life movement. During her eight years with Planned Parenthood, Abby quickly rose in the organization’s ranks and became a clinic director. As one of the youngest Planned Parenthood clinic directors in the nation, she was involved in upwards of 22,000 abortions and counseled countless women about their reproductive choices.
However, Abby became increasingly disturbed by what she witnessed. Abortion was a product Planned Parenthood was selling, not an unfortunate necessity that they fought to decrease.
Her life was changed on September 26, 2009, when Abby was asked to assist with an ultrasound-guided abortion. She watched in horror as a 13-week baby fought, and ultimately lost, its life at the hand of the abortionist. At that moment, the full realization of what abortion was and what she had dedicated her life occurred to Abby and a dramatic transformation took place.
Desperate and confused, Abby sought help from a local pro-life group. She swore that she would begin to advocate for life in the womb and expose abortion for what it truly is.
Planned Parenthood is fully aware that the workers who leave are their greatest threat. They took immediate action to silence Abby with a gag order and brought her to court. The lawsuit was ultimately thrown out of court.
The media continues to be interested in Abby’s story as well as her continued efforts to advocate for the unborn and help clinic workers escape the abortion industry. She shared her story at the 2020 Republican National Convention and is a frequently requested guest on Fox News and a variety of other shows. She is the author of the nationally best-selling book, Unplanned, which chronicles both her experiences within Planned Parenthood and her dramatic exit.
The book has become the movie Unplanned... Unplanned brings us an eye-opening look inside the abortion industry from a woman who was once its most passionate advocate.
Today, Abby travels across the globe sharing her story, educating the public on pro-life issues, advocating for the unborn, and reaching out to abortion clinic staff who still work in the industry. She is the founder of And Then There Were None, a ministry designed to assist abortion clinic workers in transitioning out of the industry. To date, this ministry has helped over 600 workers leave the abortion industry.
Abby lives in Texas with her husband and eight precious children.
Thank you so much for your continued support of our mission and we wish you and your congregation health and happiness in 2021.
Serving Him Together,
George Stewart – Director of Development
