This should be a very special Mass for us Knights. The Knights of Columbus are dedicated to the welfare and protection of the unborn child. Please come to this Mass with your family members and friends. Bishop Solis wants his 4th Degree Knights to be there as we have been in the past. After Mass there will be candles placed on the front steps of the Cathedral. The 4th Degree will stand guard during the time the candles are lit. This year there will be propane heaters (the tall ones used at outside dining areas) to help keep the two Knights warm during the time they are standing outside. This is the 4th Degree’s opportunity to once again be the public presence of the Knights of Columbus. I look forward to seeing many of my 4th Degree Knights at this Mass in their new uniform. In light of the fact that we are in the midst of a pandemic which may be peaking, and in view of the heightened pressures that law enforcement officers and others are currently facing in and around the Capitol, this year’s March for Life will look different. The annual rally will take place virtually and we are asking all participants to stay home and to join the March virtually. We will invite a small group of pro-life leaders from across the country to march in Washington, DC this year. These leaders will represent pro-life Americans everywhere who, each in their own unique ways, work to make abortion unthinkable and build a culture where every human life is valued and protected. We are profoundly grateful for the countless women, men, and families who sacrifice to come out in such great numbers each year as a witness for life – and we look forward to being together in person next year. As for this year’s march, we look forward to being with you virtually. By signing up here, you will receive access to our livestream info directly to your inbox so that you can watch from home! The answer is yes, but in a different way. On Saturday, January 30, 2021, at 11:00 AM, there will be a “March for Life Car Rally”. It will start at the Utah State Capitol parking area and proceed down State Street to Sandy, UT. Approximate time to drive from the State Capitol to Sandy will be 2 hours I ask that those attending this rally be at the State Capitol by 9:30 AM so that we can gather together in one area to organize our vehicles. The Knights, with their family and friends, will assemble together as one big group with our Knights of Columbus Sign in the first vehicle. Please try and car pool for the rally and decorate your vehicle with Pro-Life signs or other appropriate, non-offensive, signage. A suggestion is to have children in the Catechism classes make signs for the rally. Our support as Knights of Columbus for this March for Life Car Rally is paramount in support and protection of the unborn child. Pro Life Utah will have flags for sale and all proceeds from the sales of these flags will help purchase the ultrasound machine that will go into the Ultrasound van. You can also give donations as well during this time. Radio Station K Talk, 1640 AM, will be broadcasting the guest speakers during the car rally. Please try and get this information into your Parish Sunday bulletin. As more information is forthcoming from Pro Life Utah, I will pass it onto you. If you have any questions, please contact me at 801-602-4405. Vivat Jesus Robert Van Parys, PGK, PFN Life Director Utah Knights of Columbus Need to listen to the radio online? Notes from Faith in Action FAQ: On April 6, 2018, Supreme Knight Carl Anderson announced the introduction of the Faith in Action program model. Q: What happened to the substance Abuse Awareness Poster Contest? A: While popular in some areas, this program had very low participation rates. As with all things, our programs must evolve to make room for other programs that have more involvement and engagement. With that in mind, the choice was made to remove this program as a Supreme-recommended program. However, this does not prevent councils from continuing to promote the program or its intent to our youth.
