Beer Booth: I have updated the events calendar and put all dates the booth will be open that are confirmed with the director of the Fair.  It is time to sign up ASAP. As of the writing of this email The Demolition Derby has 7 volunteers, The Mud Bogs has 5 volunteers, Friday night Rodeo 4 volunteers, Saturday night Rodeo has 5 volunteers, and the Monday afternoon Rodeo has 5 volunteers.  If you have never done this event and have questions, please reach out.  It is open to all parishioners who are 21 years old and above. Husbands and Wives are encouraged to participate. This event is our largest fundraiser and needs a lot of volunteers over 5 different nights.  For those who need a permit or need to renew their current permit go to www.utahpermit.com.  We will be having a meet up to help with the permit on Sunday July 28th from 1 to 4pm.  Snacks and drinks will be available.  The council will reimburse you for the cost of the permit if you send me the receipt. If you have a permit, it is good for 3 years from the date the permit was issued.  

Thank you to those who have signed up to help with the beer booth.  We still need a lot of volunteers. Please Consider helping this year. If you want to help and need assistance signing up, please give me a call and I can walk you thru it or I will sign you up.

    Good day and hope you've all had a wonderful summer. But now it's fair time. The Carmelite fair is upon us. The Knights have done a great job supporting ticket sales at our parishes for that beautiful Kia Sportage. The fair committee has done on a great job on fair planning, and hopefully many of you are planning to attend, eat some great food, have a cold beverage of choice, maybe buy a few more tickets and support the Carmelites. Last year it was amazing to see so many Knights from so many councils working at the fair and also showing their support by attending. Hopefully this year we can have an even more successful fair, but we need everyone's support. 

   Now we all  have one last opportunity to help. On Saturday Sept 7^th at 8:30 am for fair setup and Sept 15^th 5 pm, and after the fair closes for fair takedown. Judge Memorial and St. John the Baptist schools are sending students to do much of the work but could use some more adults to help run crews and give directions. It takes 2-3 hours, but as you all know, many hands make light work. Wear your Knights shirt and lets help make this a successful fair. Text or call me if you plan on being there so we can have better planning. Hope to see you all there, and call if you have any questions.

In 2021, Pope Francis established the celebration of the World Day for Grandparents and Elderly on the fourth Sunday of July, near the liturgical memorial of Saints Joachim and Anne, the grandparents of Jesus (July 26). The theme for the 2024 celebration selected by the pope is “Do not cast me off in my old age” (cf. Psalm 71:9).

The U.S. bishops have approved the transfer of the celebration of World Day for Grandparents and the Elderly in the U.S. to the first weekend after Labor Day in September to coincide with National Grandparents (and the Elderly) Day in the United States as many local communities, schools, and parishes have celebrated for some time.

To all the people of Utah and those who have traveled from surrounding states, I look forward to  welcoming you to the 2024 Greek Festival.  The Salt Lake Greek Festival is the 2nd largest cultural festival in Utah and the largest Greek Festival West of the Mississippi.  Experience Hellenism and Orthodoxy as we showcase our delicious food, spectacular dancers, hospitality and our Orthodox faith through beautifully guided tours of our amazing Cathedral and museum.  It is my hope that this years festival will be the biggest and best ever!  So, as we say in Greek, Kalos-orisate (welcome,) and Kali-dia-ske-tha-si, (have a great visit.)

Good day and hope you've all had a wonderful summer. But now it's fair time. The Carmelite fair is upon us. The Knights have done a great job supporting ticket sales at our parishes for that beautiful Kia Sportage. The fair committee has done on a great job on fair planning, and hopefully many of you are planning to attend, eat some great food, have a cold beverage of choice, maybe buy a few more tickets and support the Carmelites. Last year it was amazing to see so many Knights from so many councils working at the fair and also showing their support by attending. Hopefully this year we can have an even more successful fair, but we need everyone's support. 

Now we all  have one last opportunity to help. On Saturday Sept 7^th at 8:30 am for fair setup and Sept 15^th 5 pm, and after the fair closes for fair takedown. Judge Memorial and St. John the Baptist schools are sending students to do much of the work but could use some more adults to help run crews and give directions. It takes 2-3 hours, but as you all know, many hands make light work. Wear your Knights shirt and lets help make this a successful fair. Text or call me if you plan on being there so we can have better planning. Hope to see you all there, and call if you have any questions.

Hello all 40DFL Volunteers,
We will be beginning the 40 Days For Life Fall Campaign on Wednesday, September 25. Thirty three days from now!!!
Keep in mind, we will be having our Kick-Off Prayer Rally on Tuesday September 24 @ 5:30PM outside Planned Parenthood Metro (160 S. 1000 East). Come and be with others for prayer and receive materials, yard signs, and devotional pamphlets to pass out to others at your church.
I have put out the 40 DFL Flyer on the web page (40DaysforLife.com/SaltLakeCity). Please on the right side, click down under resources to find the PDF to help promote this years Peaceful Vigil.
Help to inspire others to pray at the Planned Parenthood Metro (160 S. 1000 East) to be a sign of hope for someone to consider LIFE and not death. They can sign up here.
I and others will be at PPM on Wednesdays at 11:00AM. If you need materials and support, come join us.

* We will have a cookout at St. Catherine's to celebrate two things: the solemnity of the dedication of our church, and a sort of welcome back for our student community. It will likely take place in the gathering space outside the chapel, and perhaps also in our outside area. We will be cooking, and it is a parish-wide event.

We have a big BBQ event the Knights are putting on! On September 29th, a Sunday, after the 6:30 Mass, we are celebrating the Solemnity of the Dedication of St. Catherine's. We are also making this a welcome back BBQ for the students! Would SD Frank be able to help with cooking your famous chicken thigh tacos? They're so good!
